Directions to Hopetoun

On-site electric hook-up and temporary stabling facilities can be arranged, if competitors book and pay (non-refundable|) by 1 May 2018. Stables: 60 per horse for the week. Electric hook-up: 80 per lorry for 4 nights. Please contact John Hulse or Jane Isaac.

Competitors please note: the event will NOT be providing bridle numbers for FEI competitors this year, in line with other FEI events.

International Horse Driving Trials

Hopetoun Horse Driving Trials is once again an International event this year, running CAI 2* classes alongside the National Advanced Classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 25 - 27 May 2018.


The Scottish

All Rover Rally

The Scottish All Rover Rally

at Hopetoun on Sunday 28 May

Now in its 23rd year, the Rally celebrates all marques of Rover Cars and Land Rovers.

This year it has been invited by the Scottish Carriage Driving Association to Hopetoun House, South Queensferry as part of the display at the International Carriage Driving Event.

The cars will be on site on Sunday 27th May from 10am in a static display.

Cars on display will include early running board pre-war cars, Rover P4, Rover P5, Rover P6, early Land Rovers and Range Rovers right up to the last modern Rovers manufactured in the UK.

Some of these vehicles have often been seen in Feature Films and Television Series - try to spot them.

Please let your farrier know that your equine may be one of those judged, so that he is aware of the competition.

This competition is kindly sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Farriers, for the Best Shod horse/pony in the designated classes, which will be assigned after entries have closed.

The judge will examine each horse/pony before or during the line-up for preliminary judging, taking into consideration:

(a) The condition of the feet
(b) The making (or preparation) and fitting of the shoes
(c) The nailing and position of clips

Normal shoes and showing plates are equally acceptable, provided they are suitable for the horse/pony.

The Worshipful Company of Farriers will award:
A Rosette and an Inscribed Card to the winner in each Class
A Plaque to the overall winner
A Plaque for the Registered Farrier responsible for its feet and shoeing

You are invited to compete in the RDA Dressage and Obstacle/Cones Class at Hopetoun, which is a Scottish Qualifier for the RDA National Championships in Hartpury in July. The competition is open to all members of Scottish RDA Driving Groups. The David Brown Trophy will be presented to the RDA Group with the highest cumulative score. The Coxhill Event is sponsoring rosettes for the RDA classes.
